Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Notes:
•Dependingonthespecictype,theEthernetcardmightlookdifferentfromtheillustrationinthistopic.
•UseanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeEthernetcardandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthistopic.
ToremoveanEthernetcard,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage83.
4.Removetherisercardassembly2andlayitupsidedownonaat,clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.

Note:UsuallyEthernetcard(s)areinstalledontherisercardassembly2.AnEthernetcardalsomight
beinstalledinanyPCIExpresscardslotthatsupportsit.See“Rearviewoftheserver”onpage28to

5.LocatetheEthernetcardyouwanttoremove.Then,grasptheEthernetcardbyitsedgesandcarefully
pullitoutofthePCIExpresscardslotontherisercardassembly.
Note:TheEthernetcardmightttightlyintothePCIExpresscardslot.Ifnecessary,alternatemoving
eachsideoftheEthernetcardasmallandequalamountuntilitiscompletelyremovedfromtheslot.
