Youcanconnectuptoeightstoragearraystoaserver.Whenyouconnectonlyonestoragearraytoaserver,
theconnectionisreferredtoasbasicmode.Whenyouconnecttwotoeightstoragearraystoaserver,
theconnectionisreferredtoascascadingmode.
Notes:
•Toconnectthestoragearrays,thetargetservermusthaveaRAIDcardoraHostBusAdapter(HBA)
installed.
•Dependingonthemodel,yourstoragearraysmightlookslightlydifferentfromtheillustrationsinthistopic.
Connectingastoragearraytoaserver
Toconnectastoragearraytoaserver,dothefollowing:
1.Connectoneendofamini-SASsignalcabletotheSAS-inconnectoronarearI/Omoduleofthe
storagearray.
2.Connecttheotherendofthemini-SASsignalcabletoanavailablemini-SASconnectorontheRAID
cardortheHostBusAdapterintheserver.FormoreinformationabouttheRAIDcardortheHostBus
Adapter,refertotheuserguideofyourserver.
3.ForastoragearraywithtworearI/Omodules,youcanrepeatstep1andstep2toconnectanother
mini-SASsignalcabletotheserverandthesecondaryrearI/Omodule.
Note:ConnectingastoragearraytoaserverthroughtworearI/Omodulesprovidesredundancy.
Theredundancyhelpsavoidsignificantinterruptiontotheconnectionofthestoragearraywhena
rearI/Omodulefails.
