Whentheclientisinstalled,itcommunicateswiththeHardwarePasswordManagerservertoauthenticate

thedevice.TheclientcanthenrequestHardwarePasswordManagerpolicysettingsfromtheHardware

PasswordManagerserver.Theregistrationprocessisthencompletedwhentheuserenterscredentials

forloggingontothedevice.

Forregistrationtooccur,thedevicemustbeconnectedtothenetworkonwhichtheHardwarePassword

Managerserverislocated.

TheadministratorhastwooptionsforinitiatingregistrationofHardwarePasswordManagerdevices:

•RegistrationisautomaticallystartedwhentheuserlogsontoWindows.Forthisoption,theadministrator

selectstheAuto-startregistrationatWindowslogonoptionintheclientpolicythatisappliedto

HardwarePasswordManagerdevices.

•TheuseropenstheClientPortaltobeginregistration.

ToregisteradevicewiththeHardwarePasswordManagerserverandenrollauser:

1.ClickStart➙AllPrograms➙ThinkVantage➙HardwarePasswordManagertoopentheClient

Portal.(Ifyouradministratorhassetupauto-start,theportalwillopenautomaticallywhenyoulogin.)

2.ClickRestarttorestartthedevice.

3.AftertheBIOSloads,theHPMinitializationprocessveriesthatyouwanttocontinuewiththe

registration.PressEntertocontinue.AfterWindowsstartsandyoulogin,theClientPortaldialogbox

opensautomatically.

4.UnderEnteryourWindowsaccount,enteryourusernameandpasswordforloggingintoWindows.

Theusernameyoucurrentlyusedtologinwithshouldalreadybelledinforyou.

5.UnderEnteryourIntranetAccount,enteryourusername,password,anddomainforlogginginto

thedomainonthisdevice.

Note:IfthepolicyissetfortheintranetaccountequalstheWindowsaccount,youwillonlybe

promptedforonesetofcredentials.

6.TheEnteryourHardwareAccountwindowmaypopupaccordingtotheserverpolicy.ClickFinish.

7.Thesystemwillautomaticallysuspendandthenresume.

8.Afterloggingontothedesktop,itwillpromptyoutorestart.

9.ClickOKtorestartthedevice.

10.AttheBIOSloginprompt,loginusingyourWindowscredentialsorhardwareaccountcredentialsfor

thedevice.

IfyouclearEnableFirstUserenrolledonamachineasAdministrator,therstenrolleduserhasuser

privilegeinBIOS.IfyouselectEnableFirstUserenrolledonamachineasAdministrator,therstenrolled

userhasadministratorprivilegein

EnrollingadditionalusersonaHardwarePasswordManagerdevice

MorethanoneusercanlogintoaHardwarePasswordManagerdevicewithsingle-sign-onprotectionifyour

administratorhasenabledmultipleusers.Whenanyoftheenrolleduserslogintothedevice,theClient

PortalrunsandtheyareautomaticallyloggedintoWindows.

Thefollowingarerequiredforenrollingadditionalusersonadevice:

•Intheclientpolicyappliedtothedevice,Allowmultipleuserstoenrollonasingledevicemustbe

selected.

•Foreachadditionaluser,anaccountmustbecreatedonthedevice.
